Job Opening: CNC Machinist

As we continue to evolve and diversify, we seek a skilled, technically adept individual to join our CNC Machinist team. This role is integral to our operations and contributes to producing quality, reliable, and consistent tooling products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, prove, troubleshoot, and maintain CNC programs of multiple-axis lathes and mills using Mastercam 3D and 2D programming software.
  • Analyze part drawings, sketches, and design data to determine the dimensions and configuration of cuts.
  • Select cutting tools, machine speeds, and feeds according to knowledge of machine shop processes.
  • Perform debugging and testing of CNC programs in the machining centers.
  • Prepare, store, and maintain program files in the database system.
  • Write instruction sheets and tool lists to guide the set-up and operation of the machining centers.
  • Operate machining centers to ensure performance, quality, and deliverability.
  • Assist in any testing required in the purchase of new CNC equipment.
  • Assist in training production operators on using new and existing CNC machine controls and tools.
  • Perform cutting tools evaluations, cost analysis, and new technology implementation, as well as analyze tooling failures.
  • Drive cycle time reduction by adjusting feed and speeds, eliminating wasted machine moves, and evaluating better tooling.
  • Participate in work holding/fixturing design and manufacturing.
  • Participate in machine set-up on the shop floor for all new and/or existing processes.
  • Elicit feedback from machinists to improve machining setups and programs.
  • Provide feedback to design engineers aimed at improving manufacturability, quality, and cost.
  • Support cross-training efforts to drive efficiencies and productivity through the machine shop.
  • Provide technical assistance on machine tool performance, calibration, fixturing, tooling, and preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Participate in Daily Management discussions and assist with the root cause and corrective action countermeasures relative to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity.
  • Embrace the Lean culture for continuous improvement.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years of G&M code programming
  • 5+ years of machine setup and operations using mills and lathes, including multi-axis
  • Experience with Okuma OSP, Fanuc, Yasnak, and Haas controls
  • Proficient in creating CNC code using MasterCAM or similar software.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints (including GD&T)
  • Ability to perform parts inspection

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience programming or operating a CMM
  • Experience with Lean systems
  • Experience with wireless NC code transfer systems
  • Practical understanding of the assembly process and precision components
  • Basic knowledge of MRP systems and material flow
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office and PC file storage
