PP | Powered Wire Pointer
Product Overview
The Power Pointer by Sjogren industries takes our manual wire pointer and adds some power to aid in quality and speed for tough wire and rod pointing. It is used to sufficiently reduce the wire or rod diameter to allow easier passage through a drawing die.
Once enough material has passed through the die, it can be gripped by a puller and then drawn around the block. The roller on this pointer has several dies to repeat until the desired point size is achieved.

Power Pointer FAQ
What are the dimensions of the power pointer?
Dimensions:
- Width: 38” (965 mm)
- Depth: 28.5” (724 mm)
- Height: 50.5” (1283 mm)
- Weight: 450lbs (204kg)
How does the Power Pointer work?
- Turn the power of the pointer unit on by pressing the GREEN power button.
- The pointer rolls MUST rotate counterclockwise.
- Starting with the largest maximum diameter wire groove in the pointer roll, use the pointer to reduce the diameter for approximately 2.0 inches (50mm) in length until the wire fits through the first die.
- The pointer rolls rotate counterclockwise which ensure flattening of the wire while pushing the wire towards the operator, preventing fingers/hands from entering the machine.
- The wire must be worked several times back and forth through the pointer in one to three grooves to obtain a round diameter at the necessary size and length.
- CAUTION: WIRE POINT WILL BE HOT!
- Press the RED stop button to power down the machine.
Note: Use caution and keep clear of rotating equipment during operation.
- Turn the power of the pointer unit on by pressing the GREEN power button.
Do I need to lubricate my power pointer?
To maintain optimal performance, follow these maintenance steps:
- The pointer is permanently lubricated and the internal gears and bearings would only require attention if the lube becomes contaminated. Occasionally the rolls should be cleaned to remove steel dust/chips.
- The lubricant in the gear reducer should be changed after the first 100 hours and every 6 months thereafter. Refer to the manufacturer’s documentation.
What does the Sjogren Power Pointer cost?
The cost of our standard Power Pointers typically fall between $15,000 and $20,000+/-, but is heavily dependent on your needs, model, specifications, and material costs.
Prices can vary based on your specific needs.
Our products are made from high-quality materials and are designed to last. We also offer ongoing support for our products.

How do I change the RPMs on the variable frequency drive?
This is dependent on the voltage requirements of 240 or 480. The drive system will be different for each. For the Yaskawa J1000 drive as an example:
- Open the electrical enclosure.
- (Machine must be plugged in and powered on)
- Press Enter
- (The number next to the F should begin blinking)
- Press the up / down arrow to change the blinking number to the desired setting. Use the > / reset button to move to the next digit.
- (Once desired RPM is entered move onto step 4)
- Press Enter
- (The word “END” should appear for approximately 3 seconds)
- Press ESC
- The new RPM setting should be set and no numbers on the display should be blinking.
- (If any number is blinking press ESC again).
- Repeat steps 2-6 to change to a different RPM
- Open the electrical enclosure.
