• Do I need to lubricate my manual pointer?

  The pointer is permanently lubricated and the internal gears and bearings would only require attention if the lube becomes contaminated.

  Occasionally the rolls should be cleaned to remove steel dust/chips.

• How do I use the manual pointer?

  1. Simple instructions:

     1. Starting with 4,8mm (.188 inch) diameter or smaller wire, use the Hand Pointer to reduce the diameter for approximately 50mm (2.0 inches) in length until the wire fits through the first die.
     2. The Pointer is operated by raising the arm lever to a vertical position, inserting the wire end into the appropriate groove and then rotating the handle 90° or more downward toward the operator.
        1. rotating the arm lever in the opposite direction will reverse the rolls, pushing the wire back out.
     3. The wire must be worked several times back and forth through the pointer groove, rotating the wire axially 90° in between roll rotations to obtain a round diameter of the necessary size and length.
        1. If the wire is not axially rotated 90° periodically, the point cross-section will be oval shaped and not round. This will create problems at the die.
     4. Continue the pointing process through the descending sequence of grooves until the desired point diameter is obtained.

• How do I ensure the best outcome for my pointed wire?

  NEVER jam oversize rod into an opening or attempt to skip grooves.

  ALWAYS roll point progression and rotate the rod as explained above.
